HAIR TRANSPLANT

DHI Hair Transplant

The Choi needle, referred to as an implanter, has a very thin and sharp tip with a cylindrical structure. The donor hair is advanced along this canal and inserted into the needle.

The most important factor that distinguishes DHI from other methods is that the follicles from the donor area can be transplanted without carving any holes thanks to the help of the implanter. This method, in which the process steps are combined, shows similarities with FUE.

The Choi needle, referred to as an implanter, has a very thin and sharp tip with a cylindrical structure. The donor hair is advanced along this canal and inserted into the needle. Because of this application, the DHI method is commonly known as the Choi method.
There are some advantages of the DHI method.

Since the collected hair is transplanted in a few minutes, the tissue’s exposure to the outside is minimal.
Survivability of hair follicles in the process is high.
Since the incision is less frequent, bleeding and healing times will be shorter.
The recovery process after transplant is faster than other methods.
It is OK to apply on unshaved hair.

What Are the Disadvantages of DHI?

There are still some disadvantages of the application compared to other methods.
The application team needs to be fast, competent and have high skill.
It is a bit more expensive than other methods.
Planting person should be careful and preferably be at their best.
While the application is being made to the hair area, the skills of the applicator comes to the forefront. In practice, Choi tips can also damage living roots. This means limited mobility.
Hair transplantation time takes longer than FUE method.
Since every root is planted in the area to be sown immediately, it is important to apply the angle and posture procedures carefully.

How is DHI Performed?

This process consists of five parts.

Preparation Stage

This process is the same as normal hair transplant preparations. First, the patient meets with the doctor. Then analysis and transplant planning is done. Blood tests are performed to clarify the suitability of the patient. If everything is positive, the operation is prepared.

Anesthesia Stage

In this stage, local anesthesia is applied. It is the process of anesthetizing the nerves of the region in the application area for a period of time. This procedure is performed by anesthesia specialists in our institution. The application time is about 3 to 4 minutes. In the same process, the donor area is cleaned with anesthetic fluids. After the cleaning step, anesthetic fluids are administrated in a suitable ratio and manner with a very fine needle.

Graft Collection Stage

First begins the process of collecting the donor roots from the healthy area. Hair roots are loosened with the help of micro motor device. This process helps to remove the roots without damaging the hair follicles in the environment. After the procedure, the roots are collected with the help of forceps.

Hair Root Preparation Stage

This is the step that distinguishes DHI from other methods. The preparation process continues by placing the hair follicles in the implanter. Tissues are cleaned before inserting into the device. Choi pens are used during this process. Each application may use 20 to 30, or even sometimes up to 100 pieces. After a period of time, the application starts.

Planting Stage

The most important step of the DHI method is the transplantation of hair follicles by carving the holes. The roots collected and placed in Choi pens are then planted in the right direction and angle. The application method of the pen is to open the hole momentarily and insert the root. While the transplantation process goes on, the helpers carefully place the roots on the emptied pens.

After the DHI Hair Transplant Process

Since there is no suture and incision after the procedure, it passes more peacefully than other methods. Tissue damage is minimal. Therefore, the recovery time is fast. Since the work is done on donor site during the procedure, the erythema may last up to a week.
An antibiotic cure which should be applied 1 week after the application will be recommended. This application is for preventive purposes.
You can return to your normal life within 4 to 5 days after the procedure.

The Differences of DHI Hair Transplant from FUE

The biggest difference of DHI from FUE is that the process can begin without shaving the hair.
Another difference is that hair follicles are transplanted 1-2 minutes after collection and thus minimizes the waiting time.
Planting between these dilute hair areas gives more successful results.
Planting in narrow areas can be formed more intensively.

DHI Hair Transplant Without Shaving

As with all other methods, DHI hair transplantation method can be done without shaving. Let us immediately explain what distinguishes this method from others.
In FUT and FUE methods, the donor area has to be shaved. However, the DHI method does not have this obligation. The distinction can be made in this way. There is no need of shaving for hairy areas.

Is DHI/ Choi Hair Transplant Suitable For Everyone?

During the development phase of the application, this method was found to be unsuitable for everyone. Particularly for those with fine strand or curly hair, the method has not been possible. This is due to the structure of the grafts. Roots cause problems in placement at the tip of the implanted pen.

However, an implanter that can be applied to all hair types has been produced after product development studies. The implants, varying in thickness from 0.64 to 1 mm, have brought a wide variety of suitability to hair type in hair transplantation.

Beard Transplant

The methods are similar in beard transplantation as in hair transplantation. However, the workflow that occurs during and after the operation is different.

Beard transplant

Which is a solution for the thin or abnormal beard that causes negative effects on the aesthetic appearance of men, is also extensively applied in our country. In parallel with the developments in hair transplantation, beard transplant is now possible and in demand.

The methods are similar in beard transplantation as in hair transplantation. However, the workflow that occurs during and after the operation is different. The appropriate technique is selected from the methods used in the hair area and then applied by the physician to the patient.

How Does Beard Transplant Work?

Planning is done before the transplantation, as expected. The amount and the angles of the beards to be planted are determined. After the planning phase, the doctor makes the necessary sketches in the related areas. With the help of the computer program, the person can see the face shape in detail after the beard is transplanted.

FUT and FUE techniques

are used in beard transplantation. FUT technique is not usually preferred because it has some disadvantages. The biggest problem is that FUT technique is that the transplanted beard does not grow in the same direction. Therefore, the FUE method is more preferred. Since the skin is not cut, there is no scar on the face and the beards grow in the desired direction.

The operation can be applied on chin, sideburns, mustache and cheek area. The process which is appropriate to the preference and aesthetic appearance of the person will be determined by computerized result monitoring process. Likewise, acne scars on the face can be utilized as a camouflage to cover wounds and stains.

Loss of hair follicles in the beard and mustache areas can be caused by a number of reasons. Genetics, improperly applied laser epilation, needle epilation, post-burn skin deformation and surgical interventions are the main causes of hair loss.

The main purpose of beard transplantation is to tighten these areas by hair transplantation to the areas with less frequent hair. In the same way, transplant can be applied to areas without any hair. This allows the desired results to be obtained without any complications.

The number of roots to use during the sowing process varies. This number can range from 300 to 500 for mustache, 600 to 700 in the jaw area, 300 to 700 for the lateral area and 200 to 250 for sideburns. The number of strands to be used in the operation also determines the price.

What Are the Risks?

The area that the hair is supplied from will have a pinkish appearance for a few days.

The usage of needles cause blood clots after the operation. They will disappear after the first shower taken.

Blood circulation for hair follicles increases in the transplant area. This increase can cause sebaceous glands to work and cause acne. This effect is temporary.

Since there will be increased tension in the area for 2 weeks, mimic movements should be considered. Some muscle stress may occur.

Although all of these are expected reactions, no serious complications are usually observed after the operation.

Thing to Keep in Mind After the Operation

Especially on the first day, the transplant area should be adequately protected. The grafts can come out with any kind of friction because they are not fully seated.
On the first night, care should be taken to lie on your back as much as possible.

After the operation, bandage wrapping should not be applied and the face should have ample amount of skin free to touch air directly.
After the planting process, too solid food should not be consumed for up to 2 weeks.
The operation may cause erythema in the donor area. Antiseptic creams can be used to prevent this.
The abundant water consumption will maintain the water balance of the skin and prevent stresses.

You should avoid washing the beard thoroughly in the first wash after the operation. It should be gently caressed with small movements to not cause damage to the tissue.
Transplant areas should not be shaved for 12 days. At the 12th day, shaving can be done with the appropriate blades.
A sudden loss of hair occurs after two weeks. It’s normal. The new strands in the beard will grow more healthy.
Burning and itching may occur due to cuts. Appropriate humidifiers can be used to remove them.

When Will the Beard Start to Grow?

Immediately the next day after transplant, the hair can reach a length of 0.3 mm.
Nourishing serums are recommended after planting in large areas. These serums allow the beard to strengthen and grow faster. The doctor will recommend this solution to you, which has more B7 vitamin, after the operation.

Generally, the strands will begin to grow after 2 days. However, they should not be shaved by any means.
After 2 weeks, the shed beard will grow in a better and healthier way. This process can last up to 4-8 months.
The beard will grow in the same way of the facial structure.

Eyebrow Transplant

FUE method applied since 2003. The biggest problem in this field is the lack of training of the FUE method and the experts having to learn and develop this technique on their own.

Thin or missing eyebrows are conditions observed in many people. This appearance can be partially or completely fixed by external interventions. Although there are permanent make-up, tattooing and similar methods, eyebrow transplant is more preferred method for better results. When the face is subjected to an overall assessment, each element changes its expression and appearance with its characteristics. Eyebrow is also important in the integrity of the expression. Thin or absent eyebrows can cause serious negativity in facial expression.

As much as genetic structure, hair transplant can be considered in situations like eyebrow loss and reduction. Continuous trimming or removal of the eyebrow sometimes causes permanent losses.

Due to the change in beauty and fashion sense, there may be demands to change the eyebrow structure. While thin eyebrows were used in the old period, the use of thick and bushy eyebrows has become more popular today. Therefore, permanent make-up poses a kind of risk. The most natural solution can said to be eyebrow transplantation.

The development of hair transplantation has enabled hair transfer in many areas. Beginning with hair transplantation, the new procedures gave birth to beard and eyebrow transplantation, offering limitless potentials for people to do for themselves.

How is Eyebrows Transplant Done?

The FUT method used in hair transplantation is not used for hair and beard transplantation. The most successful and healthy results are obtained by the FUE method applied since 2003. The biggest problem in this field is the lack of training of the FUE method and the experts having to learn and develop this technique on their own.
The hairs to be planted for the eyebrow are taken from the nape. An area of 1 cm or less on the nape is trimmed by shaving. In this area, hair roots are taken one by one so as not to be bigger than 0,6-0,7mm. The purpose of these tips being thin is that to leave no trace.

The hairs from the neck should be planted ASAP. In the FUE method, this process is repeated several times.

Another issue to be paid attention in the transplant is the angle. Unlike hair and beard, eyebrow hairs are more parallel to the face. Therefore, they should be planted at 25-30 degree angles. If the grafts are not transplanted in this way, serious defects in the eyebrow structure, hairs in upright condition and overall deformity will occur.

What Are the Risks?

The biggest risk in this regard is the lack of knowledge of the physician who will perform the application. As the procedure is not a training process, the physician will proceed with his own knowledge. Therefore, the decision to do this with people with little experience can cause serious problems.
There is no risk before, during and after the transaction. Eyebrow transplantation performed correctly in a sterile environment will finish without any problems.

Who May Undergo This Procedure?

Age is of no importance in this operation.

People who experience eyebrows loss due to genetic illness,

Naturally thin eyebrows due to hereditary reasons,

Hair loss due to wounds, scalds or traumatic factors and deformity in muscles,

Hair loss due to frequent trimming of eyebrows.

Things to Know After Eyebrow Transplant

The process usually takes 2 – 15 hours. Since it is performed with local anesthesia, the patient does not feel any discomfort. The patient is immediately discharged after the operation.
Tiny crusts occur for 1 week after the procedure. This process has no discomfort.
Activities such as swimming in the sea, sauna, solarium, hot sun and bathing should be avoided for 15 days.
Complete growth of eyebrows can usually take between 8 months and a year. Excess hair should be cut in intervals during this period.

When Does It Start to Grow?

The roots start to take hold after 1 week after the first operation. The planted hair can be observed between 4-6 weeks. This is normal. The shedding hair is only at the ends of the strands. Since the roots are in place, there is no to worry.
After 4 to 6 months, hairs begin to grow from the roots. It may take up to a year for the hairs to grow fully and the difference being visible. The newly grown hairs are to be trimmed with 15-day intervals. This allows them to strengthen and adjust to their new home. The best look in terms of structure can be observed after a year.
